About the Heredia campus in Costa Rica
Here is a little bit about the YWAM location in Heredia, Costa Rica. We are partnering with two locations in Costa Rica, Heredia is one and Guanacaste is the other. When people think of Costa Rica they think of beautiful oceans, lush green landscapes and good strong coffee. When I think of Costa Rica I think of the Heredia campus. I have spent most of my time in Costa Rica at this location and I love it dearly, as will you I am sure.
Heredia is located in Los Angeles de San Rafael de Heredia. The property is on the northern hills of the Central Valley and sits at about 4,500 feet above sea level. It is 5 acres of cypress, fruit trees, and pasture. We are in the process of purchasing this piece of land that we have been renting for the past several years. The average temperature is 72 F and we get about 100 inches of rain per year.
Since the beginning it has been our desire to eventually open a University of the Nations campus so that we could offer all the secondary schools which are not available in Central America. For many Central Americans the cost to travel and difficulty obtaining visas makes it almost impossible for them to go to other countries to study. A campus right in the heart of Central America would put it within $100 and a one day bus ride for most students. We currently have capacity for teams of up to 50 people and hope to be able to house as many as 200 in the near futur.
